It's raining again

…in Barcelona and now it’s cloudy…
Today we don’t feel like talking about antiques (www.bcn-antiqueandvintage.com), art is better! (although we think that collecting antiques is a sort of art!!) … and art is what you find in Barcelona just walking and looking up!

Hoy no nos apetece hablar de antigüedades (www.bcn-antiqueandvintage.com) el arte es mejor! (aunque pensamos que coleccionar antigüedades es una forma de arte!!!)... y arte es lo que vas a encontrar en Barcelona simplemente levantando la vista!

MERCAT DE SANTA CATERINA (Santa Caterina food market)
Not far from the Cathedral, you will find this combination of antique and new. Although the market dates from 1845, it was covered again in 2005 with a roof by Enric Miralles and Benedetta Tagliabue, a vast mosaic of coloured ceramic pieces, representing fruit and vegetables.

No lejos de la Catedral encontrarás esta mezcla de nuevo y antiguo. Aunque el mercado data de 1845, se cubrió de nuevo en 2005 con una cubierta de Enric Miralles y Benedetta Tagliabue, un gran mosaico de piezas de cerámica coloreadas, representando frutas y verduras.


And in one of the corners near the market… you will find a small Catholic chapel in the façade of a bulding… this small chapels were very used as a way of showing popular faith… have you ever visited Naples? you will find one of these chapels in every corner, this is a very Mediterranean custom. These chapels were common a long time ago…you can still find some of them in the antique part of the city or in the Gracia neighbourhood.

Y en una de las esquinas cerca del mercado... encontrarás esta pequeña capilla católica en la fachada de un edificio... estas pequeñas capillas eran una muestra de fe popular... has ido alguna vez a Nápoles? encontrarás una en cada esquina, esta es una costumbre muy Mediterranea. Estas capillas fueron muy comunes hace mucho tiempo... y aún puedes encontrar algunas en la parte antigua de la ciudad, o en el barrio de Gracia.


And… welcome to Spain! These are our traditionals drinking jugs, made of pottery. Each region has its own traditional colors, sizes, forms and shapes.
