Dungeons & Dragons – BOMARZO Garden
Not far from Rome you will find a magic place, the Bomarzo Garden, usually referred to as the Bosco Sacro (Sacred grove) or, locally, Bosco dei Mostri ("Monsters' Grove").

The garden is not part of the traditional tourist rutes of Rome. Was created by Pier Francesco Orsini (1528–1588), a mercenary and a patron of the arts, who was so in love with his wife, Giulia Farnese, that when she died, dedicated the garden in her memory.

The garden is impressive. The creatures living there, Hannibal’s elephants, sphinxs, an orcus, dragons and lions, etc..., are far from the pleasant forms of the Renaissance. However, the result is really attractive and unique. Believe me, you won’t find a place like this anywhere.
The history behind the garden is romantic but sad. During the 70s, the garden was restored by the Bettiny family, a couple that wanted to give the garden a new live. Ms. Bettini died working in the restoration of the small church of the garden… and her husband died some years later. Both are resting there...
I hope you will find the opportunity to visit this place.
