St. Jordi en Barcelona- Una historia sobre un Caballero, un Dragón y una Rosa

Being today St. George… the best way to celebrate the Catalan national day is giving you a rose… and, for this reason, I have been searching in my collection the best “rose” to offer you… and I have decided that this antique Italian potpourri pot, made of porcelain and decorated with roses, is perfect for this special occasion. So, here you have my personal present, have a very nice St. George day!

Siendo hoy St. Jordi... la mejor  manera de celebrar el día nacional de Catalunya es regalando una rosa.... y, por esta razón, he estado buscando en mi colección la mejor "rosa" para ofreceros... y he decidido que este antiguo recipiente potpourr, hecho de porcelana y decorado con rosas, es perfecto para esta ocasión. Por lo tanto, aquí tenéis mi regalo personal, feliz día de St. Jordi!

Do you know the story of the knight St. Jorge and the Dragon? The brave knight St. Jorge saved the beautiful princess of being killed by the Dragon… and from the blood of the Dragon an extraordinary rose was born!

Conocéis la historia del caballero Sr. Jordi y el Dragón? El valiente caballero St. Jordi salvó a la hermosa princesa de ser devorada por el Dragón... y de la sangre del dragón nació una extraordinaria rosa.

In addition, today April 23, we commemorate the deaths of Miguel Cervantes and William Shakespeare, on 23 April 1616 and, for this reason, the tradition in Catalonia is that  women receive a rose from men…and men receive a book from women…(well, being honest, men usually buy a book for women too…).

Además, hoy 23 de abril, se conmemora las muertes de  Miguel de Cervantes y William Shakespeare, el 23 de abril 1616 y, por este motivo, la tradición en Cataluña es que las mujeres reciben una rosa de los hombres... y los hombres reciben un libro de las mujeres (bien, honestamente, los hombres normalmente también regalan un libro a las mujeres...)

Anyway, I love the tradition and I think that today is the best day of the year for visiting Barcelona. See below some pictures that I have taken this morning from my office, located at the very city center, where you can see the popular Ramblas St. and Pl. Catalonia full of people having fun!!

En cualquier caso, yo amo esta tradición y pienso que hoy es el mejor día para visitar Barcelona. Abajo encontraréis algunas fotografías tomadas desde mi oficina, en el centro de la ciudad, de la popular calle de las Ramblas y la Pl. Catalunya llenas de gente divirtiéndose!!
